She joins Eric to discuss the app and how hairstylists can use it to their benefit.

This episode is worth listening to if you want to understand what is going on this platform, how it is different from Instagram, and what you can do on this platform as a hairstylist. Andre Walker (Oprah Winfrey’s hairdresser) came up with “The Hair Chart” in 1990. He developed this hairchart to sell his products accurately. The chart differs between hair types and what products match those hair types. This chart has become the go to way to categorize our types of hair.

This chart is problematic in the sense that it was used to argue that straight and light hair was seen as the better or superior hair type. Although this was not the intention of Andre Walker, it nevertheless shows how sensitive this topic is and the importance on reflecting its use.

This 15 minute episode gives a great introduction to the reasons for hair loss – a major concern of many clients. She directs the podcast at customers, nevertheless it can help you understand your clients worries and how to support them.
